Milestone 2 Intro

Activity 2.1: Phenotyping for powdery mildew resistance/susceptibility

Objective: phenotyping of the full-sib population and the germplasm collection for resistance to PM.
Expected results - Phenotypic data on resistance to be integrated with genotypic data in QTL analysis (for FS-POP) and genome-wide association study (GWAS) for GC-POP.

Methodology:
PM resistance evaluations will be carried out during the highest disease pressure in the field, and the observations will encompass all the individuals, using a susceptible cultivar (i.e. ‘Cabernet’) as control. Each vine will be inspected for symptoms and classified according to the OIV455-1 (OIV, 1984) score scale from 0 to 9, as: 1.
